Commonly replaced parts

Every car maker has their own set of most commonly replaced parts or items that should be replaced on a regular basis. You should consult your owner’s manual for the intervals for the items to be replaced on a regular basis according to the Service Schedule. If you do not have an owner’s manual, make sure to always consult with a Professional. Vehicle maintenance is very important in the life of your vehicle. From A/F Sensors to Serpentine Belts to Wiper Blades, everything eventually fails. Buying after market parts as opposed to Dealer original parts can save you money. In most cases, the after market version of the part is just as good of quality, if not better in some cases, and most parts will come with a warranty. Below is a list of the more common fail items across all the makes and models and the most common items found on most vehicle’s service schedule.

Oxygen sensor

A/F Sensor / Oxygen Sensor

A/F (Air/Fuel Ratio) Sensors and Oxygen Sensors have many jobs. They monitor the Catalytic Converter and they also play a role in fuel economy by delivering information about the fuel and air content in the exhaust. Having a worn or failing Oxygen or A/F Sensor can effect your MPG’s.

Serpentine belt

Serpentine Belt

The Serpentine Belt (or Drive Belt) is the belt under the hood that you can easily see. It drives all of the engine’s pulleys to control various things for different car makers, such as the power steering pump, alternator, water pump and/or A/C compressor. Keeping this belt in good condition is a great preventative maintenance idea.
