On the 2016 Lincoln MKX, The smell of rotten eggs inside the vehicle “can” be the sign of a failing converter. However, there are a few other things that can cause this issue as well. Many times the “type” or “brand” of fuel you are using can play a role. Try using a higher octane fuel from a different source than what you usually use. Stick to a reputable brand name like, Shell, Exxon, Mobile, etc. If this does not help the smell, make sure the engine is not running hotter than usual. The temp gauge should not be more than half. If the temp is in the good range, fuel pressure should be tested to ensure there is not too much pressure is the system. If fuel pressure is good… THEN suspect the converter is failing and will need to be replaced.
