2008 Chevy Tahoe P0121 Throttle Sensor

2008 Chevy Tahoe

Chevy Tahoe

On the 2008 Chevy Tahoe, the P0121 is a fairly straight forward code pointing to a fault with the Throttle Position Sensor. On this vehicle, the TPS is part of the Throttle Body Assembly.

Inspect for the following conditions:

  • Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, and proper connections

  • Inspect thoroughly for any type of leak or restriction

  • Air leaks at throttle body mounting area and intake manifold sealing surfaces

  • Throttle body for dirt, debris, and coking. (Many times a god cleaning of the throttle plate with the use of some throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush can solve this problem!)

Inspect the throttle body for the following conditions

  • Loose or damaged throttle blade

  • Broken throttle shaft

  • Any throttle body damage

  • If any of these conditions exist, replace the throttle body assembly.

If the throttle body inspection checks ok, and the cleaning did not clear the code, then more than likely, the Throttle Body Assembly will need to be replaced.
