On the 2005 Toyota Highlander, the P0018 is pointing to “CRANKSHAFT POSITION – CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION (BANK 2 SENSOR A)”. This can be the case of a timing belt that has jumped a tooth or has stretched. SO, first thing to check here is the timing belt. Inspect the timing belt and make sure the timing is still set correctly and the belt teeth are in good condition. Bring #1 piston to TDC and check alignment. If the belt is good and still in alignment, then the problem lies in the Variable Valve Timing Sensor (VVT) for Bank 2. Inspect the electrical connector and wire harness for any loose, broken or damaged wires. If no problems are found, replace the Variable Valve Timing Sensor (VVT) for Bank 2.
